The Rebecca Harding Davis Society welcomes proposals for two sessions at the next meeting of the American Literature Association. The conference will be held May 21-24, 2020 in San Diego, CA.

 

New Directions in Davis Scholarship (2 panels)

We are interested in proposals that engage in any aspect of Davis’s work. We particularly encourage proposals that address some of Davis’s lesser known works, and we also welcome new readings of the canonical “Life in the Iron-Mills.”

Dr. Scott Oldenburg and Dr. Matteo Pangallo are seeking essay proposals for a prospective collection of essays tentatively titled None a Stranger There: England and/ in Europe on the Early Modern Stage.

This volume will gather together scholarship (theater history, performance study, literary criticism, literary history, etc.) about early modern English drama, written in response to, reflecting upon, or in light of Brexit and the debates that it has provoked. The Kurt Vonnegut Society is pleased to sponsor two panels at the 31st American Literature Association Annual Conference in San Diego, 21-24 May 2020.  One traditional panel will focus on Vonnegut and Religion, while the other will be a roundtable with short statement papers meant to generate a productive dialogue amongst speakers and attendees about the future directions of Vonnegut scholarship.  Proposals may be submitted to both events, though presenters may be accepted to only one.
