On odd numbered years since the first October the Blackfriars Playhouse opened, scholars from around the world have gathered in Staunton, during the height of the Shenandoah Valley’s Fall colors, to hear lectures, see plays, and explore early modern theatre. In 2017, the American Shakespeare Center’s Education and Research Department will once again host Shakespeareans, scholars and practitioners, to share ideas about Shakespeare in the study and Shakespeare on the stage and to find ways that these two worlds – sometime in collision – can collaborate.

The Comics Arts Conference is now accepting 100 to 200 word abstracts for papers, presentations, panels, and poster sessions taking a critical or historical perspective on comics (juxtaposted images in sequence) for a meeting of scholars and professionals at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California, July 20-23, 2017. We seek proposals from a broad range of disciplinary and theoretical perspectives and welcome the participation of academic and independent scholars. We also enourage the involvement of professionals from all areas of the comics industry, including creators, editors, publishers, retailers, distributors, and journalists.
The twelfth annual meeting of the Georgia Philological Association (GPA) will convene at the Middle Georgia State University Conference Center at 100 College Station Drive, Macon, Georgia on Friday, May 19, 2017. We invite proposals for session topics, panel discussions, and scholarly papers in English on any subjects relating to American, British, French, Hispanic, Russian, German, or Slavic literature or language, as well as composition, philosophy, history, translation, the general humanities, interdisciplinary studies, and pedagogy. Reading times for individual paper presentations are limited to 15 minutes.

The University of Florida’s Writing Program invites proposals for our annual Conference on Pedagogy, Practice and Philosophy. Writing occurs beyond the classroom or institutional formats, yet ‘schooling’ still defines much of how we write. Students and instructors participate in public discourse through diverse media literacies, developing writing practices that compose our relationships with individuals, education, institutions, and events. Yet, institutionalized learning often prioritizes specific formats and page-based pedagogy.

The importance of higher education to a country's future in a global economy has become increasingly a topic of debate and discussion. As a consequence, those in leadership roles in higher education (HE) are faced with often conflicting demands from various stakeholders. The pressures for those in management roles in higher education are considerable and this is equally true of those who work assiduously to ensure that education is relevant and fit for purpose.
