Chicana/Chicano Culture: Literature, Film, Theory

The Popular Culture and American Culture Associations will hold their 2006
annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, April 12 through 15, 2006. Panels and
individual papers on all aspects of Chicana and Chicano culture are
encouraged for our 2006 meeting. The ³Chicana/Chicano Culture: Literature,
Film, Theory² area tends to be both multicultural and interdisciplinary, and
panels and individual papers may explore any issues relevant to Chicana and
Chicano cultural studies.

Submission deadline for IRCALC 2006 edition of Africa Literary Journal, ALJ has been moved to December 2005. 'Re-Imagining African Literature (2)', the theme of our 2006 journal issue, will be edited by distinguished poet and fiction writer Chin Ce of IRCALC-ALJ Africa Desk, and will pursue the 2003 theme edited by Charles Smith in order to complement the scholarly essays that appeared in that previous volume. Contributions from non-African writers on African literature or submissions adopting a comparative approach to new literary and cultural impacts will be highly welcome.

We have just concluded a National Seminar on Expatriate Indian Writing in English (Sep 22-23) at the Department of English, Kakatiya University, A.P., India. Some of the key participants were Prof. Jasbir Jain (Jaipur), Prof. Manju Jaidka (Punjab), Dr. Somdatta Mandal (Santiniketan), Prof. Vijayasree (Osmania), Prof. Gopal Rao (Osmania), and Prof. Vinoda (Kakatiya).
