Digital Frontiers seeks conference submissions that explore creativity and collaboration across disciplinary boundaries in the arena of public humanities and cultural memory for the fourth annual Digital Frontiers Conference and THATCamp, September 17-19, 2015 at the University of Texas at Dallas. Submissions may include individual papers, fully-constituted panels, birds-of-a-feather discussions, hands-on tutorials, or posters. With the recent trends in dietary choices and food preparation techniques, we are constantly bombarded with statements that point fingers at our eating habits. We are told that we are what we eat! The rise of awareness to vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free lifestyles, as well as the prevalence of fair trade campaigns, have rendered the slogan so ubiquitous that it runs the risk of metamorphosing into a dead metaphor. As such, for Transverse Issue 15, we want to challenge the assumption that inevitably binds the product and the consumer into a one way relationship, and focus on the active roles food plays within cultural spaces.

'James Ellroy: Visions of Noir' will be held at the University of Liverpool from 1-3 July 2015. This conference will examine Ellroy's influence on the genre, his inspirations as a writer and his achievements in forging an idiosyncratic and unique style. We seek to foster an interdisciplinary approach in order to explore subjects such as Ellroy's reinterpretation of the history of Los Angeles and the United States, as well as the connections between genre fiction and cinema through film noir.
