The Comics Arts Conference is now accepting 100 to 200 word abstracts for papers, presentations, and panels taking a critical or historical perspective on comics (juxtaposed images in sequence) for a meeting of scholars and professionals at WonderCon, March 29-31, 2019, in Anaheim, CA. We seek proposals from a broad range of disciplinary and theoretical perspectives and welcome the participation of academic and independent scholars. We also encourage the involvement of professionals from all areas of the comics industry, including creators, editors, publishers, retailers, distributors, and journalists.
It is our pleasure to invite you to submit paper proposals or panels for our 39th Cincinnati Conference on Romance Languages and Literatures. We will accept proposals dealing with all areas and aspects of Romance languages, literatures, and cultures. Proposals on film, popular culture, cultural studies, creative writing, Franco-Arabic and Hispano-Arabic studies, digital humanities, and non-canonical approaches to literature are especially welcome.

We are currently seeking proposals for a 5,000-word essay specifically focused on kink and graphic texts: graphic novels, comics, manga, etc. Proposals should explore both the kink and the graphic text(s) by engaging theoretical frameworks such as psychoanalysis, queer theory, rhetoric, and/or feminist theory.
JSR: Journal for the Study of Radicalism—an academic journal published by Michigan State University Press—announces a call for articles and reviews for our twelfth year of issues.
Forthcoming thematic issues will include anarchism, including Black Bloc activism, ecological radicalism, animal rights radicalism, and right-wing forms of radicalism. We are particularly interested in articles on transnational subjects as well as on lesser-known examples of radicalism, as well as in articles that include theoretical and methodological considerations.

Travel, the daily movements of people (and animals), our mobility and ability to traverse spaces and places is the cornerstone of life in the 21st Century. We take it for granted, we presume it to be a feature of daily life and assume it to be a right which belongs to all of us. But whilst ‘travel’ appears to be initially straightforward, even a cursory glance quickly reveals an intricate, nuanced and multi-layered phenomenon which, even now, we struggle to fully understand or appreciate.
