Friends, colleagues, and bird lovers,

The LBJ (www.literarybirdjournal.org) is soliciting additional pieces for
its fast-approaching late-June inaugural issue in two specific capacities.

First, we’re interested in receiving 250 word proposals leading to feature
articles and essays between 2500 and 3000 words. Pieces can engage with
birds and bird culture in any ways the writer sees fitâ€"-so long as it’s
done thoughtfully, with grace and clarity, and a sharp eye for style. If
interested, please send your proposal, a brief bio, and a writing sample to
editor_at_literarybirdjournal.org.

Reminder that the Mystery, Thriller and Crime Fiction area of the Midwest
Popular Culture Association is accepting proposals in any and all aspects
of mystery, thriller and crimefiction by April 30. Please send 100-200

The conference will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio, Friday-Sunday, October 3-

The deadline for submitting articles to the current issue of the MLA-listed, peer reviewed, NUCB
Journal of Language, Culture & Communication has been extended to May 30, 2008.
For this issue the Journal will consider articles on any topic of general
interest to those working within such disciplines as language studies (second-language acquisition,
etc.), language teaching and cultural studies. Specific
possibilities might include (but are not limited to) such issues as:

The Northeast Modern Language Association’s

40th anniversary meeting will take place next year

in Boston, MA

February 26 â€" March 1, 2009

Please consider proposing a panel on any aspect of British, American,
and/or Anglophone culture, literature, and film; we also welcome
cross-disciplinary and comparative panels.

Panels can be proposed electronically through NEMLA’s website:

open from which you access the 2009 panel proposal form.

The deadline for panel proposals is fast approaching: May 10, 2008.
