increasing reliance on new media to convey information previously conveyed

documentation is needed.

Are these media new ?

Under the editorship of Eric Alloi and Isabelle Raynauld

[la version française suit]

The 6th issue of Post-Scriptum.org is concerned with the concepts and
expressions that constitute the foundation of new media as a field of study.
If the current lexical profusion (new media, multimedia, digital media,
interactive media, etc.) attests to the diversity of possible approaches
when faced with combinations of information technology and arts such as
literature, cinema and other hybrid forms, what critical point of view are
we able to bring to an artistic practice that is still embryonic?

In recent weeks, a heated debate over the dangers academic bloggers may face when applying for jobs has emerged as a result of a recent essay in The Chronicle of Higher Education (http://chronicle.com/jobs/2005/07/2005070801c.htm). The author, writing under the pseudonym Ivan Tribble, claims, among other things, that often the simple practice of maintaining a "blog was a negative" for applicants seeking employment in his department. "The content of the blog," Tribble continues, "may be less worrisome than the fact of the blog itself.
