Collin College, a two-year institution serving Collin County, is hosting its second annual conference on trends in the teaching of college composition on Friday, February 27, 2015. This year's one-day conference will focus specifically on the teaching of argument and persuasion in first-year writing programs. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Richard Enos, Professor and Holder of Lillian Radford Chair of Rhetoric and Composition, of Texas Christian University.

The cataclysmic fact of global warming has brought to the fore notions of interconnection, supraindividual agency, and transhuman timescales, challenging scholarship to ask how systems, ecological networks, and even entire worlds might be conceived within a single frame. In Victorian Studies this presents itself as a problem of critical scale—what are the temporal and geographic boundaries of "the Victorian"?—and aesthetic form: how to represent an ecosystem, where no single phenomenon can be abstracted from a system of mutual dependence?

Sylvia Townsend Warner: Mary Jacobs Memorial Essay Prize 01/05/15

The Sylvia Townsend Warner Society invites entries to the Mary Jacobs Memorial Essay Competition which has been instituted to acknowledge the contribution made by the late Mary Jacobs to Warner studies.
The prize consists of £200, one year's free membership of the Sylvia Townsend Warner Society and publication of the winning essay in the peer-reviewed Journal of the Sylvia Townsend Warner Society.
Essays of not more than 4000 words on any aspect of the life and work of Sylvia Townsend Warner should be submitted to Helen.Sutherland@glasgow.ac.uk by 1st May 2015. Competition results will be announced in July 2015

We consider contributions in the fields of anthropology, archeology, cultural studies, economics, film studies, history, literary studies, philosophy, political science, and sociology.
