The Music Theatre/Dance Focus Group of The Association for Theatre in =
Higher Education (ATHE) announces its call for papers for the Third =
Annual Emerging Scholarship Panel for the 2006 ATHE conference in =
Chicago. Papers can address any area in the purview of the Music =
Theatre/Dance Focus group, which includes opera, operettas, musicals, =
dance theatre, performance art with music or dance elements, and =
pedagogy in music theatre and dance. Submissions are open to graduate =
students and scholars who have not presented at a national conference, =
as well as established scholars who have not presented or published in =
the areas of Music Theatre or Dance.=20

We invite proposals for papers related to the theme of women and
performance in the Eighteenth Century (1660-1830) for a one-day conference
sponsored by the English Department/Theatre Arts Program at Duquesne
University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Some suggested topics include: women
in the eighteenth-century theatre (female playwrights, actresses, singers,
dancers, musicians, women in theatre management, female theatre critics),
"performing" women in Restoration and/or eighteenth-century plays, novels,
novellas, poetry, diaries, letters, essays, and/or theoretical issues
related to women and performance, performance and the female body, female

The Theatre History Focus Group (THFG) invites proposals for panels, roundtable discussions, papers, and alternative session formats for the annual meeting of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE), which will be held at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago from August 3-6, 2006. The conference theme is "ATHE at 20: Theatrical Milestones, Past Legacies, Present Possibilities, and Future Strategies." The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2005.
