CFP: Nineteenth-Century British Dramatists (1/15/04; collection)

I am currently seeking contributors for a new volume in the Dictionary
of Literary Biography series. This volume will be the first one in the
series to focus on Nineteenth-Century British Dramatists.

The assignments vary in length from 5,000-12,000 words, but should all
combine a bio-bibliographical narrative with a critical assessment of
the author's works.

a sample entry and style guidelines, or consult your library reference
section for examples of previous volumes in the series.

Authors of published entries receive a small honorarium and a copy of the
volume.

Essays on Canadian Writing invites submissions of manuscripts for a =
special issue on textualizing orature and orality--the transformation of =
spoken, chanted, or sung vocalizations into printed or virtual text--and =
the ethical, political, aesthetic, and pedagogical issues raised by such =
textualizations. Some topics that might be addressed include:

Call For Papers

We are soliciting submissions for an upcoming collection of essays entitled
Almost Shakespeare: Appropriations of Shakespeare in Film and Telelvision
to be published by McFarland.

The volume will address the appropriation of Shakespearean narratives,
thematics, imagery, and characterizations in non-Shakespearean cinema and
television. For example, the essays may observe the dialogue between the
Shakespearean source and the cinematic context or examine the intersection of
high and low art forms. The submissions should not concentrate on films of
Shakespearean plays, but instead on those works that are based on or borrow
from Shakespeare.
