CFP: Postgraduate English (UK) (various; journal)

full name / name of organization:
Postgraduate English

              Postgraduate English (UK)
A Journal and Forum for Postgraduates in English in the UK

We are pleased to announce a new fully refereed journal, administered from
the University of Durham, and to issue a call for papers. The journal is
to be launched early in 2000.

The aim of the journal is to provide a space in which postgraduates in
English throughout the UK can place their work and, if accepted for
publication, receive a little feedback on it. One section will provide for
academic articles (which will be refereed) and another devoted to papers
on postgraduate issues (which need not be refereed). There is also a
section called PG Tips which will hold many useful addresses and other
sources of information on issues relating to postgraduate life, e.g. on
research resources, teaching, jobs, and general literary resources. The
journal will also be pleased to act either as a forum or archive for any
conferences specifically aimed at postgraduates. The first issue will
include material from the conference "Postgraduate Futures" (Anglia
Polytechnic University, 10th July 1999).

All students currently enrolled as postgraduates in English in the U.K.
are welcome to submit papers of not more than 7,000 words. Presentation
should conform to the guidelines of the MLA handbook.

A prize of 300 pounds is being offered for the best essay to appear in
the journal during 2000. Papers intended for issue No. 1 (February 2000)
should be despatched before November 15th 1999; for No. 2 (September 2000)
before June 15th 2000.

The journal is currently being constructed at the following URL

http://www.dur.ac.uk/~dng0zz5/journal1.htm

The site is still provisional--the facilities for online conferences are
still being tested. We release it as it may already be useful.
Suggestions for additions or improvements are always welcome.
