Call for Papers: "Edith Wharton and History" Conference
Lenox, Massachusetts, June 26-28, 2008
Organized by the Edith Wharton Society
Papers will address historical, cultural, and literary contexts in
Wharton's life and work. Possible topics include: Wharton and women's
history, women's studies, and women's writing; Wharton in the work of
others (influence, reference, allusion); historical aspects of/in Wharton's
work; popular culture; cultural phenomena and practices such as travel,
illness, addiction, etc.; Wharton and publishing. Please email abstracts of
no more than 1000 words and a 1-page c.v. to Carol Singley at
singley_at_camden.rutgers.edu by January 20, 2008.

Oscar Wilde's Critical Essays (11/15/07); collection)

I welcome abstracts and full essays for a proposed volume on Oscar Wilde's
critical essays with an emphasis on how those texts were received in the
author's own time and how they have impacted contemporary debates in
criticism and theory. I will also consider abstracts that deal with
Wilde's fiction, poetry, or drama if they suit the collection's emphasis.
