The Rhetoric Symposium is now accepting proposals for papers and panels
from faculty, graduate students, and independent scholars addressing
contemporary concerns with and applications of phronesis, which we define
broadly to include topics related to political rhetoric, civic discourse,
public political speeches, private political discourses, technology, and
critical theory.

We welcome submissions from areas including but not limited to: Rhetorical
Theory; Rhetorical History; Discourse Analysis; Genre Analysis; Composition
Theory; Communication Studies; English; Journalism; History; Film Studies;
Disability, Gender, and Minority Studies; Political Science; and Media Studies.

Dr. Karlyn Kohrs Campbell, Winans-Wichelns Book Award winner and
distinguished scholar of rhetoric and public address, will be our keynote
speaker at the annual conference in 2008. Dr. Campbell has authored or
edited eight books, numerous scholarly articles, and dozens of speeches for
both academic and popular audiences on topics as diverse as women’s
studies, political campaigns, and presidential communication.

Deadline for Submission of 250-Word Abstract: December 20, 2007

Individual and Panel Proposals Welcome. Prizes for outstanding student
papers will be awarded!
