An extensive festival showcasing and debating the interface of contemporary
music and gender concerns will be taking place in Cologne, Germany from
June 13 to 15, 2008. This 3-day festival of concerts, exhibitions, multi
media installations and talks in the city will be dedicated to questions of
how gender and contemporary music interact. Among the participating
institutions are the Hochschule für Musik, Kunsthochschule für Medien,
Universität zu Köln, Museum für angewandte Kunst, Oper Köln, WDR und
Deutschlandfunk.

There are still several entries remaining for the Greenwood Encyclopedia
of Hip Hop Literature. The volume is the first of its kind and projected
for publication Fall 2008. Those interested in contribuing will receive a
copy of the volume, which includes a bibliographic section.

Call For Contributors â€" The Encyclopedia of Hip Hop Literature

Contributors are sought for a reference work that will be published by
Greenwood Press in 2008.

The work, tentatively titled, The Encyclopedia of Hip Hop Literature,
will consist of approximately 200 entries. Each entry will vary in
length from 500-3000 words. The entire volume will be approximately
180,000 words or 400 pages and will be illustrated.

Writing Race

The College English Association - Caribbean Chapter will hold their 2008
Spring Conference in the University of Puerto Rico-Arecibo (Puerto Rico)
on the 29th of February and the 1st of March.

The College English Association-Caribbean Chapter will be holding its
next conference in the University of Puerto Rico-Ponce in February
2008. The 2008 conference will address the general topic of race and
writing. We invite proposals for 20-minute papers on any aspect of the
topic, from a literary historical, critical, theoretical,
interdisciplinary or other perspective. The proposals are not limited to
English language literature.
