CFP: [International] The Individual and the Mass Conference
THEME
The School of English of Aristotle University, Greece, in cooperation
with the Hellenic Association for the Study of English (HASE), invites
scholars to submit proposals for the 7th International HASE
conference “The Individual and the Mass†to be held in Thessaloniki from
30th May to 1st June 2008.
This conference aims to address the cultural and linguistic implications
of individual and group or mass identity, past and present, and to
stimulate discussion on changing social bonds in the global environment
of late modernity.
Participants are invited to consider the following possible areas:
â–º Individual and social subjectivities
â–º Topographies of the private and the public
â–º Mass media(tions) in culture
â–º Group psychology
â–º Changing social bonds
â–º The role of religion in global re-alignments
â–º Cosmopolitanism and nationalism
â–º Homogeneity, heterogeneity, hegemony
â–º The individual and the group in language learning
