Panel: Queer Positionality and Knowledge in Transatlantic
Nineteenth-Century Literature

Queer Positionality and Knowledge in Transatlantic Nineteenth-Century
Literature will explore the relationship among position (physical, social,
intellectual, literary, historical, etc), knowledge (spiritual, social,
psychological, etc), and literary responses to/representations of the
nineteenth-century Queer. The purpose of this panel is to provide a forum
for graduate students to receive serious feedback on their work and to
consider the variety and importance of nineteenth-century Queer
representations. For the purposes of this panel, “Queer” can encompass any
gender or sexual expression that does not conform to heteronormative culture.

Please send abstracts of 250-500 words to Edward Kozaczka at
ekozacz1_at_binghamton.edu no later than August 15, 2008. Please write
“Abstract for QPK panel” in the subject line.
