CFP: [Travel] Atlantikos: A Journal of Transatlantic Scholarship (10/15/08; journal issue)
Atlantikos seeks articles, position pieces, and book reviews for its
Spring 2009 issue.
As a resource for young scholars new to the field of transatlantic
studies, Atlantikos is particularly interested in publishing the work of
advanced graduate students and new professors. We encourage submissions
that join an ongoing conversation about the current status and evolution
of transatlantic scholarship, both generally and in relation to specific
texts, figures, and concepts.
Articles should be 12-24 pages in length and must be in MLA style.
Further submission guidelines are available on our website:
http://www.msu.edu/~atlantik.
We also encourage shorter position pieces, 8-12 pages in length, that
reflect on the current status and evolution of transatlantic
scholarship. To what extent is transatlantic scholarship a methodology
in its own right, and to what extent is it a mode of analysis that allows
scholars to integrate creatively the analytical approaches of other
methodologies such as narrative theory, gender/queer studies,
postcolonial studies, race studies, performance/drama studies, and
linguistic studies?
See our separate posting for books available for review.
Atlantikos is an online journal that accepts essays in the field of
Transatlantic Studies, broadly defined as the study of textual
productions dating from the age of exploration to the present that
originate in Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The journal emphasizes
the creative side of critical analysis, specifically inviting the
exploration and intersection of texts and concepts that have historically
been separated by disciplinary or theoretical borders. This peer-reviewed
journal, headed by an editorial board of graduate students with a wide
range of specialties, features the work of scholars currently engaged in
the process of reflecting and re-evaluating the field.
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis, but preference will be given
to essays submitted by October 15 and January 15.
