The College English Association, a gathering of scholar-teachers in English
studies, welcomes proposals for presentations on Literature and War for
our 40th annual conference, celebrating the organization’s 70th anniversary.
War is part of the fabric of American culture, but there is often a gap
between the public myth and the private truth of war. This panel will use

Given Olson's statement in "The Maximus Poems"--"an actual earth of value
to / construct one"--the Charles Olson Society seeks proposals from
emerging poets currently engaging specific elements of Olson's poetics,
such as use, measure, breath, line, sound, and speech. Proposals should
address the direct relations between the poet-writer's developing poetics
and Olson's prose or poetry--and how such a relation to Olson still
projects itself, still figures, now, 38 years after his death.

Points of Exit: Biographies on the Move
On Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2009, the Centre for Gender
and Diversity, Maastricht University, the Netherlands, will mark its ten-
year anniversary with a conference entitled Points of Exit: (Un)
conventional Representations of Age, Parenting, and Sexuality. The
conference aims to examine the potential deconstruction of conventional
scripts of age, parenting, and sexuality.

This international conference on ‘Performing Lives’ follows the inaugural
conference of the Centre for Life Narratives, ‘The Spirit of the Age’,
the focus of which was ‘Writing Lives’ (2007). Our second biennial
conference ‘Performing Lives’ (2009) invites analysis and debate on the
relationship between life histories and the ways in which they are
embodied and enacted in performance, across a range of cultures and a
variety of media: drama, dance, film, TV and video.
