CFP: [Gender Studies] Panel on Gender and Sexuality in 19th Women's Lit

Please contact if interested in research areas of 19th Century American Women, Gender Roles,
and/or Sexuality. We are currently working on a research project on Julia Ward Howe's "The
Hermaphrodite," and are inviting others who have research interests in the areas listed above. We
are trying to put a panel together for a conference this spring (or next fall), with the eventual goal of
getting something published. Anyone who is interested in working with us on this project, please
contact :

The Hemingway Society is extending the deadline for proposals for one of
its sessions at the 2009 ALA, May 21-24 in Boston, MA:

Teaching The Garden of Eden
This panel seeks to explore issues and strategies related to teaching
Hemingway's posthumously published novel, The Garden of Eden. Since it
was first published in 1986, the available version of The Garden of Eden
has occasioned controversy and significant re-evaluations of Hemingway's
work, personal life, and persona.

The 4th Annual Association of Adaptation Studies Conference will be in
London at the British Film Institute (24-25 September, 2009). Panels and
papers are invited on a wide range of subjects, including adaptation and
feminism, postmodernism, the new technologies, music, costume,
