CFP: [Poetry] William Carlos Williams and Life Studies

full name / name of organization:
Neil Baldwin

William Carlos Williams Society panel CFP: MLA convention, Philadelphia,
27-30 December 2009.

Although this is a Williams session, a quote from W.B. Yeats springs to
mind: “Who can say where the work begins/and life ends?”
We are especially interested in ideas for papers with fresh points of view
on WCW biographically -- not simply in terms of the familiar “life-studies”
that have emerged thus far, and the ways in which WCW portrays his persona
in the context of his Autobiography; but, pressing further, the degree to
which the varying and often-unpredictable rhythms and stresses of
Williams’s daily routine influenced the vast corpus of his writing in all
genres -- poetry, fiction, nonfiction, drama, epic.
Abstracts of no more than one page and a short CV should be emailed to Neil
Baldwin at baldwinn_at_mail.montclair.edu by 15 March 2009.
