[UPDATE] Essays on the Caribbean

We are looking for a few additional papers to complete an edited book about the Caribbean. Papers on all aspects of the Caribbean and its diasporas, including Central and Latin American countries are welcome. We encourage papers from a variety of approaches from across the humanities and social sciences including, but not limited to the following: music, dance, and theater; youth and popular culture; health and health care; economics; diaspora and citizenship; identity; culture; religion; film and media representations; theoretical, cultural, and historical studies; discrimination and class; community and education; migration; politics and public policies; gender, gender roles, and gender stereotypes; images of the Caribbean in North America and other parts of the world; language, discourse, and power; Creole and language; language ideologies; demographics and language change; ideologies in Caribbean communities; the role of web communities and technology.

The deadline for submissions is April 5, 2009. Papers should be 15-20 pages, double-spaced, and in MLA format. In addition, papers should be sent as electronic attachments in Microsoft Word to cwbpublication@yahoo.com. Authors should also indicate in writing that their work has not been previously published.
