Graduate Students in English Association

The deadline for the 3rd Annual Critical Voices Conference has been extended to March 26th 2010!

Hosted by the Graduate Students in English Association, the UNT Critical Voices Conference is organized to meet the needs of advanced undergraduates, graduate students and new professionals. The conference welcomes academics of all levels for a weekend of intellectual debate, cultural experiences, and networking.

Through the Looking-Glass: Thinking Critically in Literature and Beyond
In Through the Looking-Glass young Alice pushes her way through a mirror to find a new world full of adventure. Alice's trip through the looking glass aptly mirrors that of the scholar who strives to go beyond the surface and grasp at the deeper meaning beyond. Your work for the Critical Voices Conference should take after Alice's example and go beyond the surface to critically explore a topic of your choice. From the relationship between class and language to the symbolism of forests in folklore, your paper should critically discuss your subject and strive to reveal new insights.
