Taiwan as Hub for Transculturation across the Pacific

The organizing committee of the Tenth Junior Scholars Conference on Sinology invites innovative papers from PhD candidates and new PhDs at any institution for its tenth annual meeting at San Diego. The theme of the year is "Taiwan as Hub for Transculturation across the Pacific." The conference will have plenary sessions on Sinophone writing and visual culture, travel and translation of texts, and transculturation corridors and nebulae across Asia Pacific. We encourage interdisciplinary contributions within and between Taiwan Studies, Chinese Studies, East Asian Studies, as well as any fields related to the theme.

Paper presenters' round trip airfare and hotel accommodation will be provided.

Please submit an abstract of 2-3 pages (in Chinese or in English), CV, and a letter of recommendation from the advisor to the email address of y8huang@ucsd.edu by June 15, 2011.

The conference is hosted by Literature Department, UC San Diego, and co-hosted by Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations, Harvard University and Graduate Institute of Taiwan and Intercultural Studies, National Chung-hsing University.
