Extending Spaces, Community Places: An Interdisciplinary Dialogue

Saturday, March 10th, 2010
West Virginia University

Organized by English Graduate Student Organization and sponsored by WVU English Department

The West Virginia University English Graduate Organization would like to invite you to join a day of dialogue about the nature and implication of space, place and community. We encourage you to share your academic and creative work that explores how people interact with their greater environment. We hope to begin conversations that look beyond traditional hierarchies and separation to understand how multiplicities of voices and perspectives can help build a stronger community and offer tentative answers for the inter-personal divisions that perpetuate disconnection. We believe this type of work begins by building connections between academic disciplines, to see how different modes of study can inform one another to encourage meaningful depth and optimistic group dynamics. We would like to see a tentative step toward rebuilding the liberal arts perspective through a consideration of space, place and community.

We welcome panel submissions as well as individual paper submissions.

Please submit an abstract (250 words maximum).
Indicate whether you'll present a panel or a paper.
Include your contact information: name, e-mail, and affiliation.
