Georgia Philological Association: May 16, 2014 Meeting and Call for Papers

The ninth annual meeting of the Georgia Philological Association (GPA) will convene at the Waycross Campus of South Georgia State College on the South Georgia Parkway (U.S. Highway 82) in Waycross, Georgia, on Friday, May 16, 2014. We invite proposals for session topics, panel discussion topics, and scholarly papers in English on any subjects relating to American, British, French, Hispanic, Russian, German, or Slavic literature or language, as well as composition, philosophy, history, translation, the general humanities, interdisciplinary studies, and pedagogy. Reading times for individual paper presentations will be strictly limited to 15 minutes (approximately eight double-spaced typed pages).

100 to 200 word abstracts for papers, presentations taking a critical or historical perspective on comics (juxtaposed images in sequences) are being accepted for a meeting of scholars and professionals at WonderCon 2014 in Anaheim. WonderCon is a popular culture convention organized annually by Comic-Con International. We seek proposals from a broad range of disciplinary and theoretical perspectives and welcome the participation of academic and independent scholars. The CAC is designed to bring together comics scholars, professionals, critics, and historians to engage in a discussion of the comics medium in a forum that includes the public.

The quint's twentieth issue is issuing a call for theoretically informed and historically grounded submissions of scholarly interest—as well as creative writing, original art, interviews, and reviews of books. The deadline for this call is 15th December 2013—but please note that we accept manu/digi-scripts at any time.

All contributions accompanied by a short biography will be forwarded to a member of the editorial board. Manuscripts must not be previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere while being reviewed by the quint's editors or outside readers.

3rd International Symposium on Asian Languages and Literatures

In recent years, novels of Asian writers such as Murakami Haruki, Mo Yan have been widely read. Not only literature but also Asian culture from everyday life to intellectual area attracts attention in Asian and Western countries. In games from go to mahjonga, anime to Bollywood movies, martial sports from Taijiquan to Taekwondo, food culture from sushi to curry sauce take place in the Western and Asian everyday life harmonously. For this reason, we have chosen "Literature - Culture" as main theme for the International Symposium on Asian Languages and Literatures III. We are expecting to build an international platform for both academical researches and also interesting cultural sharing.

Aeternum: The Journal of Contemporary Gothic Studies (ISSN2324-4895) is an open-access biannual on-line journal. It offers peer-reviewed academic articles. The purpose of the Journal is to provide an emphasis on contemporary Gothic scholarship, bringing together innovative perspectives from different areas of study. The Journal is now taking papers for its inaugural issue, to be launched in March 2014.
