Roland Barthes at 100 (30-31 March 2015)

To mark the centenary of Roland Barthes in 2015, the School of English, Communication & Philosophy at Cardiff University, UK, will host a conference entitled Roland Barthes at 100 on 30 and 31 March 2015.

Keynote speakers: Diana Knight (Nottingham University), Jürgen Pieters (University of Ghent), Michael Wood (Princeton University).

Proposals for papers in English on any aspect of the work or legacy of Roland Barthes are invited. Proposals should be no more than 200 words long and should be sent by 30 June 2014 to BarthesConference@Cardiff.ac.uk

This conference will address the notion of boundaries and space in all areas of Canadian Studies: literal, metaphorical, metaphysical. Possible topics might include:

• language and immigration/emigration
• cultural/historical spaces
• artistic crossings
• islands and bridges
• inner and outer boundaries
• transgressing borders/boundaries

CALL FOR PAPERS - Auto/Fiction – 2:1

Theme: "Gender and Autofiction"

The issue is open to all kinds of applied and theoretical papers on gender and autofiction. Contributions may be written in English and may vary in length from 3000 to 12000 words. Reviews should not be more than 1000 words. In addition to scholarly papers we invite contributions in the form of book reviews, calls for papers, announcements of conferences etc. All contributions must adhere to the MLA style sheet (7th Edition) with an abstract and key words.
