Invitation and Call for Papers

The School of Theology (University of Eastern Finland, Joensuu) is organizing an international and ecumenical conference on patristic understandings of diakonia. The conference will be held on September 12th – 14/15th 2017, in Joensuu, Finland.

The topic of the conference is “What did deacons do?”. The period under investigation covers the first two Christian centuries (until ca, late 3rd century). We welcome academic papers, firstly on authors and sources of the given period, and, secondly, on later interpretations of those texts.

Deadline for short proposal (max. 150 words) for a 30 minute paper is September 15th, 2016.
