Writing Time/ Writing the Anthropocene
This ASLE (Association for the Study of Literature and Environment) panel at the 31st annual meeting of the Society for Literature, Science, and the Arts in Tempe, AZ 9-12 November, INVITES CREATIVE WRITING that addresses the idea of the Anthropocene. We are looking for fiction, poetry, or nonfiction that in some way considers what might be lost and/or what might be gained with this new measure of geological time, and what it might mean to weigh and measure -- to demarcate meaning or value -- in an age at once characterized by a new awareness of vertiginous scale and complex interconnection, and by the collapse of agency itself into a singularity, an idea of "Man."
By 12 May 2017, please send 300 word abstracts and one-page CVs to Helena Feder at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your contact information, academic affiliation, and any A/V requests.
This SLSA panel is sponsored by ASLE. While you do not need to be a member of ASLE to submit a proposed abstract for an SLSA panel, presenters must be or become ASLE members before the conference in order to participate in an ASLE-sponsored panel.
