2017 MSI Convening - Call for Graduate Poster Session Proposals (Deadline Extended to July 17)
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
In collaboration with the Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving-Institution (AANAPISI) Program, Richland College will host a Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) Convening on Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. The theme of these annual convenings is “Minority Student Success: Using Data to Effect Change.” Whether you attended last year or are hearing about this conference for the first time, we are contacting you to request that you help us make this year’s convening a success by submitting a proposal before the upcoming June 5th deadline.
This year we have incorporated a poster session for graduate students to showcase their research on programs and initiatives that impact the success of minority students in higher education. Representatives from colleges throughout the nation will be in attendance to build collaborations and cultivate connections between the colleges to expand programs showing evidence of success or promise, and share knowledge and advance research that promotes equity. The MSI Convening is primarily grant funded, but students selected to present a poster will be offered a small honorarium of $500 to help defray the cost of travel.
Through the graduate student poster session, we are looking for presentations about research on:
1) an existing program or initiative designed to improve minority student success, including your findings, or
2) current or innovative tools for quantitative evaluation of higher education programs.
Graduate students are encouraged to proposals for the poster session, but are also welcome to submit proposals for a breakout session. Breakout session presenters do not receive an honorarium. For information about proposals and the Convening itself, please visit the MSI Convening website at http://richlandcollege.edu/msi-convening. Proposals for the graduate poster sessions will be accepted through Monday, July 17, 2017.
For questions about submitting a proposal, please contact Professor Rolanda Randle, MSI Program Chair at (972)238-6230 (Central Standard Time).
