The International Sidney Society invites paper proposals for its sessions at the 53rd International Congress on Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo, MI, May 10-13, 2018.  Sidney at Kalamazoo is an ideal opportunity for up-and-coming scholars to meet some of the most influential names in Sidney and Spenser studies. The relaxed and friendly setting is especially conducive to lively discussion and generous feedback. Regular presenters and attenders include Roger Kuin, Anne Lake Prescott, Donald Stump, Robert Stillman, Mary Ellen Lamb, and Arthur Kinney.  Abstracts should be sent to Nandra Perry (nandraperry@tamu.edu) by September 15thSidney at Kalamazoo I (“This Unpolished Embryo”: New Ideas in Sidney Studies)In this “flipped” session, we invite scholars to crowdsource an emerging thesis or difficult question related to the Sidney circle, generously defined.  Presenters will prepare a 2-page abstract for discussion during the session.     Sidney at Kalamazoo II (The Sidneys and their Circles)This session invites papers focused on the life and work of Philip and Mary Sidney and/or the life and work of 16th and 17th writers within their literary, religious, and political spheres of affiliation and influence.  We welcome both traditional and innovative imaginings of the “Sidney circle.” Sidney at Kalamazoo III (The Sidneys and their Circles II):This session invites papers focused on the life and work of Philip and Mary Sidney and/or the life and work of 16th and 17th writers within their literary, religious, and political spheres of affiliation and influence.  We welcome both traditional and innovative imaginings of the “Sidney circle.”
