Queer Communities and ‘States of Emergency’: Critique and Collaboration in Literature, Film and Other Media
American Studies Association Annual Convention, November 8-11, 2018, Atlanta, GA
In response to the ASA’s call for papers for the 2018 annual convention, this proposed queer studies panel will consider LGBTQIA+ community responses to states of national crisis and emergency in literature, film, art, letters and diaries, and other media. Papers that offer interdisciplinary, intersectional and/ or historicized readings of literary texts, as well as ones that bring together queer theory and critical race and/or disability studies, are particularly welcome. The scope of the panel will likely be narrowed and revised based upon submissions. Please send abstracts of 250-350 and a short CV or bio to Kristen Proehl (SUNY-Brockport) at firstname.lastname@example.org by January 20, 2018.
See the ASA’s CFP for more information about the conference and ideas for possible approaches to the conference theme: https://www.theasa.net/annual-meeting/years-meeting/years-theme Please note that all individuals who submit proposals for consideration must be members of the ASA.
