RMMLA English Nineteenth-Century Literature
CALL FOR PAPERS 2018
ENGLISH NINETEENTH-CENTURY LITERATURE SESSION
Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association
Conference Dates: October 4-6, 2018
The RMMLA welcomes abstracts across the wide range of English Nineteenth-Century Literature for the 2018 meeting of the Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association, with particular interest in proposals that illuminate lesser-known authors/texts, explore the familiar/canonical in new ways, and/or incorporate diverse perspectives. This panel strives to generate discussion, both during and after the session, and bringing together an eclectic panel of scholars and papers is a wonderful way to make this goal happen. For example, last year, this panel featured presenters exploring: ecological apocalypse in Richard Jeffries' After London, phenomenological aesthetics in Wordsworth's "The Prelude," Romantic after/lives in the television series Penny Dreadful, and feminism and masculinity in Edwin A. Abbott's Flatland. So, the sky's the limit, to use a cliche, but compelling research, thoughtful insights, and passion for the subject are always key elements of a successful proposal.
Please email abstracts (300-ish words) to Lucien Darjeun Meadows (LucienMeadows@gmail.com) by April 1, 2018. All abstracts are acknowledged. You do not have to be a member of RMMLA to propose a paper, but you should become a member by May 1 to be listed in the program. For more information, please visit: http://www.rmmla.org/
