The 116th annual conference of the Pacific Ancient & Modern Language Association (PAMLA) will be held at the idyllic Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, from Friday, November 9, to Sunday, November 11.

This panel in Cultural History seeks papers that explore the cultural, political, or social intersections that exist between text and context, including interdisciplinary aspects of culture, either popular or elite.  Papers are sought that explore the relationships between history and film, history and literature, or history and any other aesthetic tradition.  Submissions that not only practice cultural history, but that also reflect critically upon that practice, are particularly welcome.  Specific topical themes might include identity, memory, representation, or power, amongst others.

To create an account that will allow you to navigate the submission portal, please go to:  www.pamla.org/user/register

To submit an abstract for this session, please go to:  www.pamla.org/2018/topic-areas

Once you have created an account, you will be able to use the online system to submit an abstract. The deadline for proposals is May 30.  If you any questions, please contact Andrew Howe (ahowe@lasierra.edu).
