Asian Studies Conference and Festival
A one-day conference on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, OK. Conference theme: "The Multicolored Tapestry of Asia: Traditions, Conversations, and Development." We welcome individual papers, thematic panels, and poster presentations exploring and examining topics relating to Asian cultures and societies for a multidisciplinary reflection on and conversation about Asia’s past, present, and future.
Registration includes a luncheon featuring authentic Asian foods and an exquisite martial arts performance by real Japanese ninjas!

The conference will be preceded by a National Asian Studies Faculty and Graduate Student Workshop on 20-21 September, hosted by Dr. Peter Hershock, Director of the Asian Studies Development Program (ASDP) and Education Specialist at the East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawai'i. If you are interested in attending the workshop, please let us know so we can make arrangements.
Conference presenters are encouraged to re-situate their understanding of Asian aspects and influences in a multicultural context and show how Asian Studies can give insight into the future development of the world’s largest continent. Submissions from students, both graduate and undergraduate, are welcome.
