The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh will organize a two-day international conference on the current state of teaching and learning in higher education. The conference, titled, “In Pursuit of Quality in Higher Education: Challenges Ahead,” will offer a platform for academics, educators, education researchers, trainers, and policy-makers working with NGOs as well as with various government bodies.

The number of tertiary education providers in Bangladesh has increased in the last two decades. Still, a large number of students leave the country in pursuit of quality education. While we accept student mobility and skill-based migration as a part of a rapidly changing global scenario, more discussions are needed to find ways how universities may ensure quality graduates for both local and global markets.     

The call for paper invites abstracts from academics, educators, education researchers, trainers, and policy-makers working with NGOs as well as from the government sector. The two-day international conference includes paper and poster presentations, workshops and plenary sessions on various aspects of teaching and learning in higher education.

The keynote speaker of the conference, Gerardo L. Blanco, Assistant Professor of Higher Education & Student Affairs Program, University of Connecticut, USA, has been working on various aspects of tertiary education in many countries including Bangladesh.

The conference invites empirical and theoretical papers particularly (but not limited to) in the following areas:

  1. Classroom teaching
  2. Curriculum and syllabus designing
  3. Digital literacy
  4. Internationalization of Higher Education
  5. Materials development
  6. Pedagogy
  7. Policy discourse
  8. Student Mobility
  9. University/ Industry linkage
