Panel abstract: This special session is dedicated to investigating formal, thematic, and philosophical readings of Classical Hollywood comic cinema (1910-1960), ranging from the works of Charlie Chaplin to George Cukor, situated between the cinematic genres of vaudeville, slapstick, screwball, and romantic comedy in the first half of 20th century America.
