The Jonathan Bayliss Society invites proposals for a roundtable discussion on Politics and American Literature at the annual American Literature Association Conference (ALA), which will be held at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego, California, on May 21-24, 2020 (Thursday through Sunday of Memorial Day weekend).

In addition to the novels of Jonathan Bayliss, presenters might consider the work of such writers as Henry Adams, Mark Twain, Kate Chopin, Robert Penn Warren, Ayn Rand, Philip Roth, Ursula LeGuin, Michael Chabon, and Toni Morrison, among many others. 

Please submit abstract of 200-300 words to president@jonathanbayliss.org by January 15, 2020. Please include your mailing address, email, and telephone number.

Note: The Jonathan Bayliss Society supports Bayliss-related research or conference travel. For 2020, the Jonathan Bayliss Society will award recipients in each of the following categories:  (a) a reimbursement up to $500 in travel expenses to present an accepted Bayliss-related paper at the annual ALA conference in San Diego and (b) $350 to present an accepted paper on Bayliss at another relevant conference such as MLA or at the September 2020 Jonathan Bayliss Society Annual Conference in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Recipients must join the Jonathan Bayliss Society for the calendar year in which they receive their awards.
