DEADLINE EXTENDED: Reception Study Society Panel for American Literature Association 2020
The Reception Study Society will sponsor a panel at the American Literature Association Conference 31st Annual Conference held in San Diego, California, May 21-24, 2020.
“New Geographies of Reception”: Recent work in reception study has drawn increased attention to new critical insights and methodologies concerning the geography of reading. This panel invites participants to consider how reception may be informed by issues of place and space. Papers may explore, but are not limited to, several different questions: What are the conflicts and contrasts that occur between local, regional, national, and / or global reception of texts? How do reading environments impact reception? In what ways is reception rooted to a particular place; and in what ways does reception defy, break, or transform boundaries?
DEADLINE EXTENDED: Please send 300 word proposals for individual papers and a brief CV to Kelsey Squire (firstname.lastname@example.org) by January 15, 2020. Include any AV requests. Presenters should be members of the Reception Study Society by the time of the conference. For more information about RSS and membership, please see our website: https://receptionstudy.org/
