The 17th Biennial Communication Ethics Conference will be held virtually, June 6–8, 2023. The conference is sponsored by the Department of Communication & Rhetorical Studies and the Communication Ethics Institute at Duquesne University.

NOTE: The conference will take place entirely on Zoom. Access to the Zoom meeting will be provided in June.

The theme for this year’s conference is Communication Ethics as Tenacious Hope.This theme invites consideration of multiple coordinates including, but not limited to, dialogue, community, resilience, crisis, narrative, and dialogic struggle in the areas of the marketplace, health care, higher education and administration, politics, and other spheres.

Keynote speakers include:

• Amit Pinchevski, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
• Timothy Sellnow, University of Central Florida
• Özüm Üçok-Sayrak, Duquesne University

As always, we welcome papers addressing any aspect of communication ethics, regardless of connection to the conference theme.

Papers: We invite completed papers of a maximum of 30 pages, including references, or extended abstracts of 200–500 words. Submissions should be double-spaced, using MLA, APA, or Chicago citation styles.

Panel Proposals: Panel proposals may include up to five participants. Please include a title, a 500-word (maximum) rationale, a 200-word abstract for each presentation, and contact information for each contributor (institutional affiliation and email).
