This panel seeks contributions on Torquato Tasso’s diverse and multifaceted figures, works, and legacy. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
- Tasso and his genres (epic, pastoral drama, tragedy, lyric, dialogues, sacred poetry)
- Tasso’s poetic theory
- Tasso’s late poetic works (Gerusalemme conquistata, Mondo creato, Monte Oliveto)
- Tasso’s spirituality and the contemporaneous religious context
- Open philological, textual, and editorial issues (e.g., Tasso’s letters, commentaries on the Discorsi)
- Tasso read through modern theoretical approaches
- Tasso as a model for writers across different countries, languages, and periods
- Tasso’s presence in visual arts, music, and other media
