Contemporary philosophy and modern aesthetics have long stressed the potential of cinema to engage itself in the act of thinking and philosophical reflections through the presentation and assembly of moving images and sound. This presumed capacity to think and philosophize is realized by its spectators, who engage with the visual, auditory, and textual elements interwoven in films, resulting in a fusion that sparks novel thoughts and philosophical insights. However, philosophers such as Gilles Deleuze and Stanley Cavell, extend this idea further by arguing that cinema not only has the ability to engage in philosophical debates but also, in so doing, brings about a series of moral consequences and implications that warrant further investigation into its potential to stimulate ethical thinking.

Therefore, this panel invites scholars from diverse disciplines to explore the intersection of cinema, philosophy, and ethics. We will address the central questions: Can cinema genuinely engage in philosophical thinking? What are the ethical implications of this approach to cinema? In what ways can cinema engage in philosophy and ethics? Themes of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
