This special issue will be edited by Dr. Sabuj Sarkar, Editor-in-Chief, Consortium: An International Journal of Literary and Cultural Studies.

Food is much more than nourishment; it is a powerful cultural text that embodies identity, memory, migration, gender, class, caste, religion, ecology, politics, and power. Across literary texts, films, visual cultures, and everyday practices, food functions as a site where histories are preserved, contested, and reimagined. This special issue seeks to explore the multiple meanings of food and invites interdisciplinary scholarship that examines its representation, politics, aesthetics, and cultural significance.

We welcome contributions from scholars, researchers, academicians, and independent researchers working in Literature, Film Studies, Cultural Studies, Media Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Gender Studies, Postcolonial Studies, Environmental Humanities, and allied disciplines.

Interdisciplinary, comparative, and theoretically informed submissions are especially encouraged.

Submission Guidelines

• Submission Deadline (Full Paper): 15 October 2026
• Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
• All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process.
• Authors are requested to submit their manuscripts in MS Word (.doc/.docx) format following the journal's prescribed style sheet and formatting guidelines.
• Contributors must submit a Plagiarism Certificate and an AI Certificate along with their manuscript.
• The journal does not charge any Article Processing Charge (APC) or publication fee. It is an Open Access journal published biannually.
