We invite proposals for entries in an edited academic handbook on the politics of neurodiversity. This volume will bring together interdisciplinary perspectives on neurodiversity as a political, cultural, institutional, legal, and epistemic phenomenon.

The handbook seeks to advance critical scholarship on how neurodivergence is governed, represented, contested, institutionalized, commodified, resisted, and politicized across local, national, and global contexts. We welcome contributions from scholars across the humanities and social sciences, as well as practitioner-scholars, activists, and community-based researchers.

We are especially interested in contributions that situate neurodiversity within broader debates concerning disability politics, citizenship, identity, labor, education, race, gender, capitalism, biopolitics, medicalization, technology, and social movements.

The handbook aims to foster dialogue across disciplines and perspectives. We particularly encourage submissions from:

• Neurodivergent scholars
• Early-career researchers
• Disabled and scholar-activist contributors
• Contributors outside North America and Western Europe
• Interdisciplinary and collaborative teams

We welcome theoretical, empirical, historical, normative, and methodological approaches.

 Contribution Format

We envision concise, accessible, and analytically rigorous entries suitable for scholars, students, practitioners, and policymakers.

Proposals should include:

• A title
• An abstract of approximately 250–500 words
• A brief author biography (100–150 words)

Completed entries be approximately 3000 words, inclusive of bibliography and figures. Entries must meet requirements of European Accessibility Act.  Entry authors must not use AI to generate text or enter their drafts into an AI system.
