CFP: The Future of Appalachia

The Appalachian Studies Association’s 31st Annual Conference will be held
at Marshall University (Huntington, WV) on March 28-30 2008. ALL
PROPOSALS MUST BE SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY by October 5, 2007.

Silas House will be the key note speaker, and a plenary session will be
held on MTR & Sustainable Development.

The conference will highlight how people (citizens, professionals,
students, scholars, educators, artists, activists, scientists, small
business owners, etc.) are responding to the next generation of challenge
and change in Appalachia’s “road ahead.”

ASA is interdisciplinary and includes citizens and professionals from all
tiers, so anyone involved in the life, study, and/or welfare in the
Appalachian region is encouraged to submit ideas and to join more than
700 other people in the conference.

Presenters might give a talk about work that an organization has been
doing, organize a panel, submit a research paper, put together a
roundtable discussion, conduct a reading, develop a workshop, create a
poster, or produce a display table.
