LITERATURES

KEYNOTE WRITER: JOHN CROWLEY

KEYNOTE CRITIC: JOAN GORDON

LOCATION: SUNY NEW PALTZ, NEW PALTZ, NY

Following the success of the first Fantastic Genres conference in 2004, the

literatures. The conference's keynote writer will be John Crowley, whose
LITTLE, BIG (1981) is a classic of modern fantasy and whose most recent novel,
LORD BYRON'S NOVEL: THE EVENING LAND (2005), has received considerable
acclaim. Keynote critic Joan Gordon is reviews editor for SCIENCE FICTION

CONTEMPORARY CULTURE (1997) and EDGING INTO THE FUTURE: SCIENCE FICTION AND
CONTEMPORARY CULTURAL TRANSFORMATION (2002); and author of a study of Gene

possibilites the Fantastic Genres offer writers and critics, and papers on any
aspect of either's work are welcome. Papers and panel proposals on any aspect

especially interested in presentations that address the work of such
understudied writers as James Tiptree, Jr. and Gene Wolfe.
