PROPOSAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE UPDATE: NOVEMBER 1, 2007
We are considering proposals for session organized around a theme, special panels, and/or
individual papers. Sessions are scheduled in 1 hour slots, usually with 4 papers or speakers per
session.
We welcome any topics pertaining to the studies of gender, sexuality, and political careers/issues
— regarding heterosexual, gay, bisexual, or transgender men and/or women—and are especially
interested in the following subjects:
• political campaign coverage
• political advertising/media
• news
• technology
• internet
• gender (or gender roles) and political affiliation (Republican, Democrat, etc.; left, right, center)
• the masculinity (or gender) of politics
• the politics (or politicization) of masculinity
• sexuality, gender, and political affiliation
• religious (civic or sacred) discourse & issues
• the “sexuality†of political issues (“gay†issues)
• the closet (out or outed politicians)
• models of patronage
• homophobia/homosexuality in political campaigns/careers
If you or any of your colleagues are interested in submitting a proposal or have questions, please
contact the area chair. Submit a one-page (150-250 words) abstract (via e-mail, preferably) by
