Call for Workshops, Papers, and Panels
Resisting Hegemonies: Race and Sexual Politics for Girls in Nation, Region, Empire

29th Annual Conference
June 19 â€“ 22, 2008
Submissions are invited for workshops, papers, and panels on this yearâ€™s conference theme.
Topics may include but are not limited to: girls, race, and schooling; girls and food; girls, birth
control, nation states; the sexual politics of difference; girls and sports across the globe; factory
girls; teenage sex workers; race and the beauty queen; regional ontologies of gender; girl
subcultures; international girl collectives; girls and literature or film; girl organizing and the
Submissions should include a 50-word abstract, a 250-300 word description, and a CV or brief
bio. Completed papers should be approximately eight pages, for a reading time of 15 minutes.
Workshops may be either 20 minutes long or a full hour. Panels are best configured at three or
four participants. Abstracts of accepted papers, panels and workshops will appear in the NWSA
The deadline for submissions to the Girls and Their Allies Caucus is
October 29, 2007.
Applicants will be notified of the committee's decision by November 1, 2007. For more
