BOOK COLLECTION: The Rhetoric of Interruption
The Rhetoric of Interruption will investigate the use of interruptionâ€"
linguistically, narratively, politically, and sociallyâ€"in both fiction
and non-fiction as a medium through which writers register protest,
discontent, resentment, and/or other forms of resistance to social,
ideological and/or political institutions. We invite essays that
consider interruption in a variety of sociological and literary contextsâ€"
in essays, novels, short stories, autobiographies, film, television,
drama, essays and other forms of popular culture. We are particularly
interested in â€˜interruptionsâ€™ into the sex/gender systemâ€"this includes
understandings of sex, gender, desire, sexuality, identity, masculinity,
femininity, feminism and so on. We also welcome new definitions of
interruption from the traditional â€˜butâ€™ of linguistic stoppage to other
