ATHE's (Association for Theatre in Higher Education) Theory and Criticism
focus group invites participants to join its first annual book discussion
roundtable for the 2009 conference in New York City. As a group dedicated
to examining the critical and theoretical lenses used by current
theatre/performance scholars, pedagogues, and practitioners, we hope that
such a conference event will bring attention to relevant new publications
in our field. For this inaugural discussion, we have selected Alicia
Arrizon's *Queering Mestizaje: Transculturation and Performance*, winner
of the ATHE 2008 Award for Outstanding Book in Theatre Practice and
Pedagogy. We will be applying for a grant to provide participants with a
copy of the book.

If you are interested in joining this roundtable book discussion, please
send a brief bio and a one paragraph statement describing your interest
in *Queering Mestizaje* by October 20 to: katedney_at_hotmail.com .
