CFP: [Gender Studies] RMMLA '09: Contemporary American Women Writers Representing Masculinities (3/1/09; 10/8/09-10/10/09)
Seeking papers that address ways in which contemporary American women writers are constructing
and/or â€¨ critiquing masculinities in their work. Papers should look at how women writers are â€¨
representing masculinities and how this may be influencing contemporary American women's â€¨
writing, new visions of femininity, understandings of nationalism, etc.
Subtopics may include:
Masculinity and nation; â€¨Distinct American masculinities; â€¨White masculinity; â€¨Ethnic masculinities; â€¨Gay
masculinities; â€¨Feminist theory/ masculinity studies; Pop Culture; â€¨Post-feminist theories; â€¨
Consumerism and fashioning femininity; â€¨Men as consumable objects/ accessories; â€¨Transgender.

bio â€¨and contact information by 3/1/09. RMMLA '09 will be held in Snowbird, UT Oct. 8-10.
