Seeking papers that address ways in which contemporary American women writers are constructing
and/or 
 critiquing masculinities in their work. Papers should look at how women writers are 

representing masculinities and how this may be influencing contemporary American women's 

writing, new visions of femininity, understandings of nationalism, etc.

Subtopics may include:
Masculinity and nation; 
Distinct American masculinities; 
White masculinity; 
Ethnic masculinities; 
Gay
masculinities; 
Feminist theory/ masculinity studies; Pop Culture; 
Post-feminist theories; 

Consumerism and fashioning femininity; 
Men as consumable objects/ accessories; 
Transgender.
 
Send 250-word abstracts of papers to Katie Arosteguy at karosteguy_at_wsu.edu along with a brief
bio 
and contact information by 3/1/09. RMMLA '09 will be held in Snowbird, UT Oct. 8-10.
